Seth Rogen recently appeared on a talk show where he discussed the possibility of creating a sequel to Pineapple Express. While he gave a cautious 'maybe' as his answer, he suggested that such a project might find success on streaming platforms.

The original 2008 film, which Rogen co-wrote and starred in alongside James Franco, was initially considered for a sequel due to its box office success. However, Sony ultimately cancelled these plans because of budget concerns.

The situation became more complicated when Franco faced serious allegations of inappropriate behavior from multiple women in 2018. This controversy led to the breakdown of Rogen and Franco's long-standing friendship and professional relationship.

By 2021, Rogen publicly stated that he no longer works with Franco, making any potential sequel extremely unlikely despite occasional hints of interest.
