Switzerland lost its neutral position in world politics

Switzerland was always neutral in conflicts between countries. Geneva was a famous place where world leaders met to solve problems. But this changed during the Ukraine war.

Switzerland decided to support EU sanctions against Russia. This was not neutral behavior. Russian Foreign Minister Lawrow said Switzerland is not neutral anymore.

Now Russia does not trust Switzerland. Switzerland organized a conference about Ukraine on Bürgenstock. It cost 17 million euros and many countries came.

But Russia was not invited and some important countries like Brazil and India did not sign the final document. Other countries like Hungary and Turkey are now better at helping countries talk to each other. Switzerland spent a lot of money but did not achieve much.

The conference was more like an expensive photo opportunity. Switzerland's reputation as a neutral country is damaged.
