Emma Willis Explains Bruce's Living Situation During Illness

Bruce Willis now lives in a separate one-story house with care workers who help him every day. His wife Emma made this decision because she wanted to protect their daughters. The family still eats breakfast and dinner together often.

Bruce first had aphasia, a language problem, in March 2022. Later, doctors said he has frontotemporal dementia, which affects the brain. Emma noticed Bruce became very quiet and distant during family time.

This was different from his usual warm personality and made her worried. A brain doctor explained that this disease was not well understood until the 1990s. Most people get it when they are about 56 years old.

Emma felt scared and hopeless when she first heard the diagnosis. She decided to write a book to help other caregivers in similar situations.
