Gaming platforms sued after teenager's suicide

Rebecca Dallas is suing Roblox and Discord because her 15-year-old son Ethan died by suicide. When Ethan was 12, an adult pretended to be a child on Roblox and started talking to him. This person slowly made their conversations sexual and told Ethan to turn off parental controls.

Then they moved to Discord where the predator demanded explicit photos from Ethan. The predator threatened to share the photos if Ethan didn't do what he wanted. Ethan was afraid and did what the predator asked.

He killed himself in April 2024. The lawsuit says both platforms don't check users' ages properly and don't protect children well enough. This has happened before - there are many similar cases.

The mother wants the companies to pay money and make their platforms safer for children.
