Cryptocurrency entrepreneur proposes massive Prometheus statue for Alcatraz

Ross Calvin, founder of Bitcoin mining company Parhelion, has proposed building an enormous 450-foot statue of Prometheus on Alcatraz Island. The $450 million project would include a technology museum and represent what Calvin calls a 'monument to American progress.' The statue would be taller than the Statue of Liberty and made of nickel-bronze.

However, the project faces major obstacles, particularly getting federal approval to change Alcatraz's status from national park to national monument. Alcatraz has significant historical importance, having served as both a military fort and America's most notorious federal prison until 1963. The proposal has received mixed reactions from the public.
